1. Information we collect

We collect information needed to operate the Service, including:

• Account information: your name, email address, profile image, account identifier, and sign-in/session information.
• Tutor profile and verification information: biography, subjects, rates, availability, session settings, application details, and any verification document you submit.
• Booking information: selected tutor and course, session date, time, format, meeting or location details, booking notes, booking history, and attendance/no-show reports.
• Payment information: amounts, payment status, Stripe checkout and payment identifiers, and tutor payout-account status. Stripe processes payment-card and connected-account information directly; AnteaterTutors does not store full card numbers.
• Communications and content: support requests, reviews, reports, moderation records, and messages or notices we send about an account or booking.
• Technical information: essential session cookies, IP address, browser/device information, and security or log data generated when you access the Service.

2. How we use information

We use personal information to:

• create and secure accounts, authenticate users, and provide customer support;
• show tutor profiles, process bookings, manage scheduling, and send booking, calendar, and account notices;
• process payments, refunds, platform fees, and tutor payouts through Stripe;
• review tutor applications, verify submitted documents, moderate reviews, and resolve no-show reports or disputes;
• prevent fraud, abuse, academic-integrity violations, and security incidents; and
• comply with legal obligations, enforce our Terms, and improve the Service.

We do not use the Service for targeted advertising, and we do not sell personal information for money.

3. How we share information

We share personal information only as reasonably necessary to operate the Service:

• With other users: tutors and students receive the profile, booking, and session details needed to arrange and provide a booked session. Public tutor profiles and reviews may be visible to other users.
• With service providers: Google supports sign-in; Stripe processes payments and payouts; Supabase stores tutor verification documents; and email, calendar, hosting, and infrastructure providers help operate the Service.
• For legal and safety reasons: when we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to comply with law, protect rights or safety, investigate abuse or fraud, or enforce our Terms.
• Business transfers: in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of all or part of the Service.

We do not rent or sell personal information to data brokers or advertisers.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

We use essential cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, maintain sessions, protect the Service, and remember necessary settings. We do not use advertising or cross-site behavioral-tracking cookies. You can control cookies through your browser, but disabling essential cookies may prevent the Service from working properly.

5. Payments and third-party services

Stripe processes payments and tutor payout onboarding under its own privacy policy and terms. Google, video platforms, and calendar services may also process information when you choose to use them. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of those services. This Policy does not control their independent practices.

6. Data retention

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, maintain booking and payment records, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, meet legal obligations, and protect against fraud or abuse. The appropriate period depends on the type of information and why we collected it. We may retain de-identified or aggregated information for longer periods.

7. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please protect your account credentials and contact us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.

8. Your choices and privacy requests

You may update certain profile information through your account. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information by emailing [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity, and we may retain information where required or permitted by law, such as for payment records, fraud prevention, security, legal compliance, or dispute resolution.

California residents may have additional rights under applicable privacy law. AnteaterTutors does not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. To make a privacy request, use the email above and include enough information for us to locate and verify your account.

9. Children and age eligibility

The Service is not directed to children and is available only to people 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe that a person under 18 has provided personal information to us, contact us at [email protected] so we can take appropriate action.

10. International users

The Service is operated in the United States. If you access it from another location, you understand that your information may be processed and stored in the United States and other locations where our providers operate, which may have different data-protection laws than your jurisdiction.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy to reflect changes to the Service, our practices, or legal requirements. We will post the updated Policy here and revise its effective date. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date is subject to the updated Policy.
